Q: Why does my Garmin Connect web portal and mobile app show sleep data, but I don't see any in the Validic API?
In order for some Garmin sleep data to be available in the Validic API, the user must manually set their Garmin device to "sleep mode." If the device is not set to this mode, the user will still see sleep data in their Garmin Connect web portal and mobile app, but the data will not be available in the Garmin API or the Validic API.
Some older Garmin devices (e.g. first generation vivofit) allow users to manually place the device in sleep mode. Newer devices do not have this option and instead auto-detect sleep if it occurs between the user's Bed/Wake time range configured in Garmin connect. User may also self-report sleep information using Garmin Connect.
